Eat Less
2009
If you are overweight it’s because of one thing: You eat too much.
The solution is simple: Eat less.
You really don’t have to think too hard to see the truth to this statement yet millions of people are spending billions of dollars every year trying to lose weight. Buying pills, special foods, joining gyms and even falling for crazy scams that promise impossible results. None of these things work in the long term so of the people who try to lose weight only about 2% manage to keep it off for a year or more. The only way you will ever lose weight and keep it off is to change your lifestyle to one of eating only what you need to.
Others have become so desperate that they try to convince themselves that it’s fine to be morbidly obese. Reality disagrees of course, low calorie diets reduce the negative effects of aging, but silly little things like the truth have never stopped people from pushing their cause.
If you want to be a thin person you have to act like one. Thin people have one thing in common, they eat small amounts of food. Some eat healthy food, some eat fast food, some excercise, some don’t, but they all eat limited quantities. Thin people don’t go into a fast food place order a triple bacon cheeseburger with large fries and a massive Coke. In fact most restraunts serve and entire day’s worth of food with each meal. If you feel you need to lose some weight, even if it’s only a few pounds, you may be surprised to find that you are eating about twice as much as you should.
Eating as little as possible has several positive effects beyond simply making you healthier and better looking. It saves money from buying less food. It reduces a variety of medical problems some nusances problems such as snoring or poor circulation. Other serious medical issues that can expensive to treat with drugs such as high blood pressure. It also helps you gain the respect of your peers as everyone, including other fat people, see fat people as lazy and having poor self-control.
Eating less isnt easy. We were all born addicted to food. You only need to rely on willpower until you’re retrained your body to require less. Once your habits have changed and your body has adjusted it will simply be business as usual.
How much less do you need? Look up your appropriate wieght on one of the many height to weight charts available online. Multiply your appropriate weight in pounds by 10 and this his how many calories your body needs each day. You may be shocked at how small this number is. Eat this much each day and no more. That’s all there is to it. There are no pills. No products. No crazy plans. Instead of walking into the sub shop and getting a large sub with chips and a soda get a small one.
Now lets dispel some ridiculous myths shall we…
But what about “starvation mode” isn’t that what causes people to gain weight again?
No, you arent starving. Not even close. You are simply adjusting to eating the correct amount for your body size.
I’m a serious athlete, don’t I need to eat more?
If you were a serious athlete you wouldnt be fat.
Wont my body gain back all the weight and more when I go of the diet?
You are not on a diet. You are eating the right amount for your body type and waiting for your weight to adjust itself. There’s no going back to eating like a fatty unless you want to being fat again.
But I can’t do it because (fill in common excuse here)?
Math is a wonderful thing. Your BMR or basal metabolic rate (ie how much food your body burns to keep itself alive) is about 10 calories per pound per day. If you eat 1500 calories a day your body will keep the most important 150 lbs and shed the rest. It’s really as simple as that.
What about (fill in crazy diet plan here)?
Does the math work?
Lets summarize. Eat Less.
